What is CORE SUPPORTS funding?

Core funding includes supports to help you with:
  1. Your everyday living activities
  2. Your current disability related needs
  3. To help you work towards your longer term goals

Budget support categories in Core:

This is the most flexible budget because you can use your funding across the CORE support categories in most cases.
The categories include:
  1. Category 1 - Assistance with Daily Life
  2. Category 2 - Transport
  3. Category 3 - Consumables
  4. Category 4 - Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation

As of November 2023, the NDIS released two NEW categories under the CORE budget:
  1. Category 16 (NEW) Home and Living
  2. Category 21 (NEW) - Younger People in Residential Aged Care (YPIRAC)

Here is a brief overview of the types of supports that may be funded under each CORE category:

Longer term disability accomodation options - ILO, MTA and SIL
YPIRACSupport for younger people in residential aged care - this mostly includes support within the aged care facility NOT accomodation costs, living expenses and some care fees that the NDIS can't fund
** The following supports must be specifically stated, listed or quoted in the plan in order for funding to be used for these supports
