What is Relationships funding?

This funding category (Category 11) will help you develop positive behaviours and interact with others. Providers who provide behavioural intervention must meet the NDIA Guidelines in order to provide these supports. It requires a behaviour support plan to be developed that aims to limit the likelihood of behaviours of concern developing or increasing once identified.
 

This category appears in the NDIA myPlace portal as 'CB Relationships'.  This was previous called 'Improved Relationships' and was updated to 'Relationships' with the release of the new NDIS online portal, PACE in November 2023.

What's news?
  • This category used to include funding for Intensive behaviour intervention, Specialist behaviour and intervention supports and social skill development.
  • For any participants NEW to the NDIS after November 2023, or who's plans are transitioned over the new PACE system - some of these supports will now be funded under a new category called 'Behaviour Supports'

Supports the NDIA may fund (if related to your disability)
  • Training for carers in behaviour management strategies
  • Support to develop social skills for participant in community/social activities
  • Intensive behaviour intervention - for new participants or new plans transitioned after Nov 2023 - this will be funded under Capacity Building under 'Behaviour Supports'
  • Specialist behaviour and intervention supports (for harmful or persistent behaviours of concern and use of restrictive practices where necessary)  - for new participants or new plans transitioned after Nov 2023 - this will be funded under Capacity Building under 'Behaviour Supports'

Supports the NDIA don't fund

  • Mental health supports unrelated to behaviour support
  • Behavioural supports from unregistered providers (must follow the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Framework)


How much does this support cost?
The NDIS will allocate funding for a specific number of hours for these supports following your planning meeting if these supports are determined to be reasonable & necessary

The NDIS Price guide has set a maximum rate that they will pay for the supports as follows:

What if I do not have funding for these supports in my plan?
If your plan has not included funding for these supports, and you feel this is reasonable & necessary for your disability needs, you will need to get in touch with your NDIA planner or LAC directly, or call NDIA on 1800 800 110 to discuss a plan review or your options for funding.
