What is Finding & Keeping a Job funding?

This category of funding (Category 10) covers Employment-related support, training and assessments that help you find and keep a job, such as the School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES).

This category appears in the NDIA myPlace portal as 'CB Employment'

Supports the NDIA may fund (if related to your disability)
School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES):
Accessible for those in year 11/12
This is an early intervention approach for school leavers with significant disability to support and gain the skills and confidence needed to gain employment, and also transition into Disability Employment Services (DES). These supports can be used towards developing skills such as: money handling, time management, communication, discovery activities, work experience, job ready skills, travel and personal development
Disability Employment Support (DES):
Accessible for those after school
Supports the person who is job ready, to find and keep a job and have a future work capacity of at least 8 hours per week.

Supports the NDIA don't fund

Home equipment that everyone uses, that isn’t related to your disability, like a standard kettle
TAFE & Education Courses

How much does this support cost?

The NDIS will allocate funding for a specific number of hours for these supports following your planning meeting if these supports are determined to be reasonable & necessary

What if I do not have funding for these supports in my plan?

If your plan has not included funding for these supports, and you feel this is reasonable & necessary for your disability needs, you will need to get in touch with your NDIA planner or LAC directly, or call NDIA on 1800 800 110 to discuss a plan review or your options for funding.
